Valencia CF's defender featured in L'Informatiu on VCF Radio
The Valencia CF defender Dimitri Foulquier has been the main guest on L'Informatiu of VCF Radio to analyse the team's season and their great performance in LALIGA EA Sports 23-24.
Team's good form
"We are doing well, playing and competing well, especially at the Camp de Mestalla. There are 38 games in the season and we have to continue like this and finish well. We have to compete every game to win it and in the end, we'll see how many points we get. The important thing is always the pitch, putting in the intensity and competing to win the games".
The mentality of the squad
"At the Wanda, we weren't up to the task, but in general, we are competing well and when you compete you are closer to winning and getting a lot of points. We have to keep going, the important thing is the group, the team, which is doing well and we have to continue like this. Ambition is a word that has to be demonstrated on the pitch and we are showing it. We have competed very well in every game".
Keys to the great performance
"We have a very good group, a very good atmosphere. We all get on well and fight as one. The coach is also very important because his message is that we are in a very big club and we have to compete with intensity every game, we can beat anyone, and we are convinced of that. There is a very good connection between the younger players and the veteran ones, and you can see that on the pitch. We have to protect that".
Identity of play
"Intensity is more important than talent and Baraja gives a lot of importance to that, which is why we are having a good season".
Away games
"Winning away from home is never easy, both for us and for any team. It's a challenge and we want to do better away from home. The important thing is to compete to get closer to winning".
Veteran player advice
"When you are a veteran you have a duty to help the younger ones. In addition to the messages, you have to set a good example as well. We try to help with words, but above all, with actions".
Best moment at Valencia CF
"I don't know if this is my best moment. First year I played a lot, and we had a good year, last year it was complicated and I didn't fit in the coach's plans, the team wasn't good collectively, and we were all less confident... this year at the beginning I felt better with the way Baraja was playing. Thierry is having a great season, I didn't get many minutes at the beginning, but then I got my chance and I tried to take advantage of it. I give what I can and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, it's football".
Group
"When there is a good group, the substitutes, in my case in the first part of the season, we also feel important, like at home and with that it is easier when you come in, to have a good performance. Baraja has shown that at any time you can play".
Record number of consecutive games played (20)
"It also helps me that the coach is using me as a winger because as a full-back it's more difficult to come on from the bench. Before there were also 3 changes and now there are 5, so the full-backs are playing more".
Message from Jocelyn Angloma
"I didn't see Angloma's games, but I've heard a lot of positive things about him. I have images of him in the Champions League final against Real Madrid CF. He is a reference player. To be seen and told these things is a very good thing. I am very proud of him. Also, what he said about the fans, we feel a special connection and it helps us a lot. We feel very strong at home".
